Greetings,
The Vigil went well Thursday evening, we sent prayers and good thoughts
along with having some deep discussions..from religion vs. atheism to why
can't we send those FEMA trailers left over from Katrina to Haiti (the
person is supposed to ask President Obama, maybe others can do the same).
I am sending Reiki and will continue to do so with my prayers. *I have
attached a word document and a pdf, it is about 13 pages. There is a great
deal of amazing information from everywhere.*
Most humans are together now from all over the world to assist Haiti until
??? For all African communities, this is another opportunity to create and
maintain a collective consciousness. We have not done this since the
so-called end of slavery forced us to create our own everything (aka
reconstruction). Many opportunities have been presented since then
including our modern day shootings from 42 shots to 55, Katrina, 911, our
youth at risk, male/female challenges, etc. Every time there is a natural
disaster in a community of color, we suffer greatly and are NOT prepared
legally, financially or organizationally to rescue ourselves. We have money
and resources as the largest consumers in the country but until we become
citizens again, all of this cannot be realized. We Africans pay taxes,
follow rules like everyone else but often we are not considered as equal
citizens. To make ourselves equal citizens *we have to* unite to vote as a
bloc which ensures that every part of the Constitution includes our
rights/privileges and *we have to* maintain a *Village* full of moral
behavioral codes and progressive objectives.
Listening to the news, reporters were amazed at the high levels of faith
most of the Haitian people maintained. As spiritual people by
nature, Africans have a chance to pull humanity back together because
no groups of people represent oppression and discrimination more than us.
When we free ourselves, we truly free the universe. If we lead by example,
people all over the world will have no choice but to become as one.
This last couple of days wearing the minister hat has opened my eyes even
wider as to how we, as humans, can use our energy for the greatest
good. Working with people from all races, backgrounds and genders, I have *
confirmed* many questions and concerns. When people give "fronting" a back
seat, we all become fully aware and *know* that being a victim in terms of
race, religion, gender, etc. is not limited to people of color. When we
discuss victimization in an open, honest and respectful manner, the real
enemies "judgment" and "fear" can be released. The release is fully
accepted when you stand strong and maintain it because dignity cannot be
taken, it can only be given away. Usually, the beat down or burn out occurs
when you see yourself struggling as a party of one. *United we stand,
divided we fall?*
For anyone in doubt or not truly connected, hopefully, you will read up on
just how brave Haiti was in the past and the price they are now paying for
it (rather than pity them or think they sold their soul to the devil,
etc.). As I learned about so many organizations that have quietly been on
the empowerment forefront, the question of why some are angry or apathetic
has to include what have you done to effect change, really? When you are
in victim mode, you truly cannot hear or see, therefore; you cannot plan,
unite or sustain for the greatest good. From this day on, let us all
become real survivors!

Yes there is a need for IMMEDIATE relief in Haiti with the best recommendation to send a cash contribution, no matter how small. Then the question becomes what about relief in the long run for Haiti and for any location in the world? This iReport attempts to address such issues.
